Enter Into Silence / Be more Do Less

Many Spiritual Traditions maintain that such things as Inner Peace and Spiritual Wisdom can only be achieved when one is able to stop thinking and enter into a state of Silence or Inner Stillness.  When one is able to do this a Higher State Of Consciousness or an attunement with the Divine is said to occur.  In many Eastern Meditation practices this is called a state of No Mind or No Thought (Entering Samadhi).  One of the biggest challenges for the beginning student of Spiritual Enlightenment is learning how to ‘Still Their Minds’ and enter into this Enlightened State.  When they try to do this, they find that their thoughts constantly intrude and their focus is taken away from Stillness into some form of thinking.  This can be quite frustrating and many students give up on spiritual pursuits as a result.  If you are one of these individuals, the following exercises are meant to help you work towards ‘taming’ your mind and ultimately learn to Enter Into Silence.  As you practice these exercises, try not to be concerned if at first you find your mind continuously interrupts your focus.  If you persevere, you will eventually notice brief interludes where you were able to stop thinking and experience a glimpse of Inner Peace.
